WinterGuard^TM Waterproofing Underlayment

Your best defense against winter. The WinterGuard™ Series of waterproofing shingle underlayments are applied under roof shingles during new construction or re-roofing to protect your home’s interior from winter leaks caused by ice dams and wind-driven rain. WinterGuard is made of asphalt polymers, formed into a rolled sheet. The polymers make the asphalt elastic, sticky, and waterproof. The result is an amazing ability to both stretchand cling. This means that WinterGuard doesn’t rip when stressed and seals around nails driven through it. It sticks to a clean roof deck like glue. The result is a waterproof barrier beneath your shingle system, which pooled water and wind-driven rain cannot penetrate.

Problem Ice dams -- nasty build-ups of ice and snow -- form from freeze-melt cycling on your home’s roof deck. When the ice and snow melt, trapped water can seep through the roof, damaging the roof deck, insulation and the interior of your home.

Solution WinterGuard waterproofing shingle underlayment is installed between the roof deck and the shingles, creating a weather-tight barrier that prevents backed-up water from getting into your home.

WinterGuard™ HT (high tack, high temperature) is specially formulated to resist high roof temperatures under metal roofs. Also for use with shingles and tile.

Contractors - Easy To Install

WinterGuard’s split-release backing sheet is easier to remove and handle than many competitive products, saving time and money on the installation. It can also be repositioned before deck adhesion occurs. WinterGuard must be applied to a clean, dry, bare deck – never over shingles or underlayment.
